We find ourselves in a time where questions of educational purpose are set aside as if the answer has been decided on once and for all.

What I aim to do through my practice as a teacher, leader and educational researcher is provide an invitation and opportunity for teachers and school leaders to thoughtfully consider the impact of ideology upon the work of teachers and schools.

The Interruption is instrumental in my enactment of this purpose.

My hope is that through this blog, I might support a greater sense of agency and intentionality within schools, where teachers and school leaders can more effectively align practice with value.

To achieve this goal and live out this question, I teach, reflect, write, network, coach, and mentor.

If this is something that interests you, please feel free to subscribe. Each month I release a post exploring some aspect of the ideological in education, with a particular Australian focus.

Every new post of the blog goes directly to your inbox.

If you feel so inclined, you can support my work and writing further by pledging a monthly or annual contribution to The Interruption. These funds will support my subscriptions to various online educational publications and contribute to my research, which I do outside of my full-time teaching work.

As I wish to contribute to the ongoing conversation regarding education, I do not believe that paywalling my writing contributes to that aim. To allow others who might hold different perspectives, I will keep all posts available for free.

Please hold me accountable to this.

Thank you for your support 🙏.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss my research further, please reach out to me at tdmahone@deakin.edu.au.
